I need to be loved and tenderly held tight.
My cries are endless, especially at night.
I need to have my painful tears wiped away.
While I'm reassured of tomorrow, a better day.
Will you be the one to comfort my fears?
For you're the only one who sees my tears.
Show me true love, and teach me to trust for my sake.
Show me something exists that won't make my heart ache.
By those I held close I have been hurt enough.
Because of this my heart has turned solid and rough
If promises are made, I believe they are lies.
Sacred words only lead to sorrowful good-byes.
I'm all alone and nobody is here to care.
Will you be the one who will listen and be there?
Show me love and teach me to trust once more.
Show me there is something left to live for.
I have no faith, my only hope is you.
Please tell me there is something you can do.
If you promise me something, I'll open my heart.
Please, make a pledge to me we'll never be apart.
I have been all alone for long enough.
Will you be the one to make life less tough?

History of Poem: I don't know exactly when this poem was written. I am guessing around the fall of 1996. It hasn't been published; it's rather long.
