Parallel Worlds

by: Maral Maljian

He never has time, always on the go-
How I feel about him, he'll never know.
He's in his own world where everyone needs him.
But without him, my world will forever dim.

When he's around, there's a ray of light.
A ray that covers my world, gives me strength and might.
But it's only temporary and he has to leave.
Though he can't stay, I'll always trust and believe.

Am I being selfish, or wanting something wrong?
I only think it's right that together we belong.
But everyone else needs him, I can't compete.
So it's to that world I leave him, while I remain incomplete.

History of Poem: This poem was written during my high school years. If I'm correct during my junior year in High School, when I was around 17. It was published my senior year in my High School's annual literary publication, Kindlings in 1995.
